Invercargill is a bustling and energetic provincial New Zealand city, home to the inventor and rider of the 'World's Fastest Indian', the late Burt Munroe. Shopping, eating out and many of the things available in much bigger cities can be found here without the traffic and parking problems. Drive down our wide streets and marvel at the architecture that has some of the best examples of brick buildings in NZ. Southland is now able to boast that it was home to New Zealand's most famous provincial rugby trophy - the Ranfurly Shield - for the 2010 season. While the shield presently resides in Christchurch a visit to a provincial game at Invercargills Rugby Park will give people a great feel for the understanding of the passion Southlanders feel about the great game of rugby.
